The 07 Storm boys participated in their first tournament of the year and the first tournament under head coach Robert Olson this past weekend. The Storm boys started the weekend strong with a 8-3 victory over San Carlos United followed by a tight game against San Leandro Sporting that resulted in a 5-5 tie.
The boys knew they were in good position heading into Sunday, and with a win they’d earn a spot in the final. Their opponent was a 06 Tracy United team that had already scored 14 goals in their first 2 games. It was a defensive struggle in the 1st half with neither team able to get on the board. The boys continued their excellent defensive play in the 2nd half, and made things extremely difficult for the Tracy United side. The boys were resilient, and finally found the back of net in the 2nd half to grab a 2-0 victory and a spot in the final.
Facing a strong NCU Warriors F.C. team, the boys knew they had their work cut out for them. But as they were all tournament to that point, the boys were up to the task. They continued to play well as a team, and went into halftime up 3-1. It would stay that way throughout the 2nd half due to the Storm defense repeatedly closing the door on NCU's attacks. The final whistle blew giving the boys their 1st tournnament title under coach Olson, and a great start to the 2018 season.
This Storm has just begun, and it’s getting stronger. Heed the warning!
